Hello fellow earthlings~^^~

Hiiiii~~ I'm Jannah and welcome to my blog! I'm 18 this year (2013). I'm currently studying the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) at the International Medical University (IMU) which is at Bukit Jalil, Malaysia. If you're interested I'll post the link below so you can check it out. It's an awesome university. I don't lie. Anyways, it's a 5 years degree course and I'm just in the first semester of it. A whole new beginning.....not really. I joined IMU on the 18th of February 2013 so it's not really a new beginning. But sort of haha.

I'm not really sure whether I should just write a quick intro or a summary of what I've done from the 18th of February 'till this moment? Dilemma dilemma.. Oh wait, I've done the 'quick intro' so let me summarise what I basically did from my first day as a dental student up 'till recent. Today's the 5th of May 2013 (Sunday) which is the 13th Election Day for Malaysia. Big stuff. But I ain't gonna talk about politics here (in fact, I'm sort of a noob when comes to this kind of topics hehe).

Where was I? Oh right..

SO, first day of dental school was very memorable. I was nervous and scared but at the same time I was really excited. I feel like I've achieved something since the competition to get into a dental school is really really tough. It's so surreal 'cause out of all the thousands of applications they chose me to 'sit' on the approximately 50 chairs that are available in IMU for dentistry. Alhamdulillah :). So that day marked the first sentence (or paragraph) of a new chapter of my life.

Now, moving on to the next following days, weeks, months of my dental school life..

The first two weeks were basically just about orientation. I was being the usual lazy me; I didn't attent any of the orientation event that was held for use juniors haha. I would have gone if it was held in the evening but apparently it was held at night time from 7 to 11pm. Heck no. I ain't spending the whole night like that and have briefings early in the morning the next day! Before you guys make any comments about how lazy I am, in my defence, at least I went to the Muslim Society orientation which was held at the beach next to the Golden Palm Tree Beach and Resort. We spent a good joyable day there. :)

Yes, fun isn't it? As soon as those two weeks ended BAM all the information starts to pour onto you. And you have to try to be the best sponge there is to absorb all of them. Piles after piles. They just keep on pouring. Sometimes you feel like banging your head against your study desk or something; which I have done a few times now. Especially when I'm stuck in the library for hours.

We have to learn all the medical stuff. So basically, whatever the medical students are learning, we have to learn it to (like biochemistry, heart, GI track.. all the 11 systems of the body la) PLUS some extra dental lectures specially for us dental students. OMG I COULD DIE @.@

P.S. My dental batch (DT1/13) is combined with the medics too (ME1/13) since we enrolled on the same day. Hence, we all are like a big family. Together, we are.... MEDT1/13 muahahahahaha~ So yeah, we have lectures together. We suffer together. We die together.

ANYWAYS. Back to the main story...

Everyday, I hear the medic students complaining how stressful it is with all the info they need to absorb and I'm just like sitting there thinking: "OH YEAH?! We dentals have more extras stuff to what you guys are studying and you're complaining? You complain how you guys have CSU or MMS late in the evening which is like only once a week but for us DENTALS, we have extra MMS or dental lectures every LATE evening and you're still complaining?! The heck??" I'm not like ranting or anything but sheesh.. Chill guys. We should enjoy our uni days even if it's stressful but that's the wonder of being a health care student. :)

MMS is the Medical Museum Session(s) where we have models or cadavers so look at to boost our anatomy and physiology knowledge on the majestic human body. CSU is basically the clinical skill session where we learn the ethics of being a health care professional and all those clinical stuff: History taking; body temperature, BP, pulse rate taking, IM injections etc.

If you're interested what kind of MMS or CSU I've done so far, you can have a look at the pictures I've posted on my Instagram. Again, I'll post the link at the end of this post. :)

That's basically it so far.. (Not really. We had Oral Health Week this week. But I'll write about it in a new post.)

So umm, yeah. Exciting isn't it? Haha~ I'll be posting a new post every Saturday (insyaAllah) to keep you guys updated about more of my crazy wacky dental life. 'Till then, I'll see you on the next post and I'll talk to you guys soon! Thanks for visiting in the first place and don't forget to follow this blog! Cheers!!

Jannah xx.
